Bald Head Island is the southernmost barrier island in North Carolina. We are especially known for being the largest nesting site for loggerhead sea turtles in North Carolina. We are so happy the loggerheads can call us home. Joining them on the island, you can find many different types of shore birds including terns, gulls, and pelicans. And you may spot a crab or two scurrying around as the waves wash up to shore.
